08 Apr Art Fair Fridays – Kalle Gustafsson
With the house reno/move, I’ve been a terrible blogger and have missed a few Friday posts, which are my favourite:( I’m starting back up with regular Art Fair Friday goodness, and as always, Heirloom & Knot and I are so excited to share weekly design inspiration and exclusive interviews with the talented artists that inspire our creativity on a daily basis.
This week we interviewed the amazing Kalle Gustafasson whose stunning photography emotes beautiful passion in every frame. Rooted in editorial fashion, his work feels timeless and relevant to every genre…invincible to what’s currently en vogue. His beautiful images perfectly capture the raw emotion of each subject and make every composition sensual, romantic and incredibly enchanting.
How long would you say you have been a professional photographer and what has lead you to this point in your career?
I always had problem to tell when you can call yourself professional. Professional for me is when you are happy with your situation make money and do it full-time. I have never been happy where I am, I always want to reach further and to bend creativity to an experience and discover new ways and inspiration within art, film, design, creativity and photography. And I think that it is my willing doing just so and my burning desire for creativity that had led me to where I am, in good and bad. And I work a lot with my furniture gallery –www.maisonpremiere.co and doing a film documentary about a icon architect in L.A. so I´m not working full time as a photographer.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received about your craft?
How would you describe your creative process?
Start with inspiration, work on some ideas, work harder, get more inspiration, think a lot and have fun doing it.
What is your favourite technology to work with?
What has been your biggest career highlight to date?
Still to come.
Where do you find your greatest creative inspiration?
In traveling, loneliness, Pinterest, wine and my girlfriend.
What do you think sets your work apart from other photographers?
I´m really bad at looking at my own work and putting it in a perspective. That is always easier for other people to do. And with other photographers, which photographers? There are 100 000 different ways or more to work with photography.

I’m almost without words on this one. To put it simply, I’m completely enamoured with this artist. There’s nothing I love more than photography that feels sensual and romantic but also bold and graphic…this portfolio is exactly that and it was pretty much impossible for me to narrow down to five…I’d honestly purchase every photo in his portfolio if I could.
