One Room Challenge – Week One / Version 2

At the very last minute, I’ve decided to take part as a linking participant in this round of the One Room Challenge…

…because apparently, I’m must be a total masochist who has some sort of twisted need to pile on more  stress right smack in the middle of the most giant pressure loaded situation there is…renovating a house/living in a hotel since said house isn’t done/having lots of kids lol.

I guess I should back up a bit and fill you in on the situation in case you’re new here:)

During the last round of the ORC, I took part as one of the featured designers, and to put it nicely, I failed miserably. For my space, I had chosen the master bedroom in the new/old house we were renovating. My plan for the space that didn’t even exist at that point (an addition on a very old house) was this…

…and I had high hopes I could pull a rabbit out of a hat and actually get it done in the 6 short weeks but because of many construction delays, when the time was up,  this is where things were…

…and I was clearly no where near the finish line. You can read my sad letter of defeat here.

And if you really want to go back, you can catch up on the whole thing/other weeks below…

week one . week two . week three . week four . week five

After that, I continued weekly posting and updates of the room until about February…at that point, things in the room looked like this…

…which brings us to today, April 7th and the starting point for my One Room Challenge master bedroom 2.0.

At the starting point of this new round of the fun, I’m beginning with this as my foundation…

As you can see, I made a pretty large change in the original plan…instead of doing the navy on the walls, I opted for a warm grey from Para Paints called Loucks Farm. In the end, the dark navy just felt too similar to my existing master with the black walls and I wanted something quite different.  Really happy with the colour and love how it plays with the Drop it Modern wallpaper/Metrie moulding/Trumeau Stones fireplace/Alexanian white oak floors.

And that my friends, is where things stand as of now, with one small exception…our stuff.  We moved everything we own over to this house last week so this room is now crammed from wall to wall with boxes so I definitely have my work cut out for me. Thankfully, for the first time in my One Room Challenge career, there will be NO CONSTRUCTION involved in completing this room, which means that I’m in complete control of getting it done and will only have myself to blame if it doesn’t lol.

Stay tuned and make sure you check out the amazing group of 20 featured designers if you haven’t already…
